Mollycoddled Pet of the Month Competition
|
This Months Winner!
February 2010
Jorja
Jorja is a tawny Somali cat who chose me when I saw her at a local cat show. Her eyes looked deep into mine and it was instant attraction. She was not going to let me go!
I spoke to her breeder and miraculously, she was available for sale. The breeder said that I was the only person for whom she came out of her cage. The minute I held her, she started purring loudly and held out her tiny paws to touch my face. I was smitten by this kitten!
She was actually 9 months old, but is very fine boned. She is not much bigger now that she is over a year old. Somalis have longish fur and a tail like a fox. Jorja's little feet are black at the back and when she walks, from the back it's as if she is wearing the cutest little baggy pants. I've tried many times to get a photo of her like that but she moves too fast!
When she came home she just took over. Cat toys are everywhere, and she has two special favourites. Somalis are very possessive about their toys and Jorja is no exception. She carries one or the other with her everywhere. When she eats, there is a toy next to the food bowl. When she drinks water, there is her toy next to the water bowl (sometimes it is even dunked in the bowl). When she sleeps, there is a toy right next to her. Sometimes she will march in to see me, carrying a toy in her mouth and then deposit it at my feet, and I have to throw it so she can play fetch. She has indeed trained me well! She is super everything. Super fast, super energetic, super playful and super loving. She flies up on to my lap and leans into me, looking up at me with those big green innocent eyes. Her eyes are always innocent, even when she is in trash-the-place mode! She has made great friends with my 14 year old Burmese cat, Monte, but in the beginning, she terrorised my other cats - Angel Baby and Mimi. They are now used to her crazy antics and just watch tolerantly as she flies through the house.
Jorja is an absolute joy and I cannot ever imagine life without her.
| Oh, it's soooo difficult to decide on a winner! The competition is really tough, so many fantastic entries to choose from! It's great to hear your pet's stories and see their pictures so keep them coming. If you don't win this time don't forget to try again with new pictures and stories, you still have a chance of winning. There's a lot of woofing and meowing going on at Mollycoddled Pets as Eddie, Chloe and Magpie (the judges) come to their final decision.
