Jaxon

Jaxon is a much loved member of our family, he loves going on long walks, playing fetch and eating treats! He sleeps in late with us on the weekend but every other day he gets up full of energy and ready to play.

Jaxon recently celebrated his 2nd birthday with a party. He got some homemade birthday cookies as well as a pile of presents, but his favourite present was a singing birthday cake soft toy that we ordered from Mollycoddled Pets. He loves to run around the house with it in his mouth and if we squeeze it so it begins singing and he's not in the room with us he comes sprinting in to find it!

He is a perfect pooch and we love him so much!!

Marmalade and Bellamy

I'm Marmalade and my Black & White brother is Bellamy.

We were born at the RSPCA and after rejecting a number of unsuitable owners, we finally decided on a nice couple who seemed to meet our needs.  We let them take us to a new home and they have been so good, we have decided to let them stay with us.

It has taken a while but we finally managed to get them well trained.  It took some doing to teach them where to put our kitty-litter, what food we like, how we like to be cuddled and where we like to sleep.   For humans, they seem to catch on pretty quickly and they show some potential for the future.

My brother Bellamy is the quiet one and a bit of a sook, really.  He likes nothing more than to snuggle up with my mistress on the couch in front of the TV.  I, on the other hand, prefer to be a bit more independent and I can see that I am going to have to teach the big male who hangs around with my mistress a little bit about door etiquette for cats.   He seems a bit slow and seems to find it hard to focus on the job, often closing the door before I'm ready to come inside.  Still, with practice, I think he may eventually get the hang of it.

At night, we let the people sleep in our bed.  I don't mind all that much because I prefer to sleep on top of the bed and at the foot of it.    They seem to take up a lot of room however and I sometimes wish they wouldn't be so restless at times.

All the best,

Marmalade & Bellamy

Charlie
I wish to tell you all about Charlie - and why he should be Mollycoddled' Pet of the Month.

Charlie is a big dog - with an even bigger personality. He is now nearly 13 years old - and the past month has been very tough for him - and for us as well.

Back in February, Charlie was diagnosed with congestive heart failure - he was put on medication and was doing well. Jump forward to early may - and he just didn't seem himself, so we took him back to the Vet and his heart was beating at about 50-60 bpm - it should have been around 100bpm. His lungs etc were filling up with fluid again etc etc - so we were referred to a Specialist centre here in Melbourne. We took him there and they ran lots of tests on him - and the short of it was that his heart was no longer working properly and the only option we had was to get a pacemaker inserted - otherwise he only had about 2 months to live. The cost was horrendous - but this was the best option for Charlie, and if everything went as planned - he would have a few more healthy happy years with us. It was a hard decision for my husband and I to make, as we had to make sure that we were doing it for Charlie, and not being selfish and doing it for us.

Charlie had the pacemaker surgery - and we have had some big "ups & downs" over the past month - but just last week he was given a clean bill of health. We couldn't be happier with the end result - and it has made the horror of the last month all worthwhile. Charlie is doing great - and is up to his old tricks again - he still isn't 100%, but he has recovered enough to be getting into lots of mischief and causing havoc!

We love him - he is our "big dog", and we are so glad that we have the opportunity to love him for (hopefully) a lot longer than we thought we would. Each day is now a gift - and we spend it being thankful that we still have him with us - and that we had the opportunity to help him get better with the pacemaker. We are very blessed.

Charlie has been through so much lately - and he has taken it all in his stride - that's why he deserves this award.

Fiona 'Fifi" LaBelle

I'd like to enter Fiona 'Fifi' LaBelle into the pet of the month contest.

She was abandoned and living on a main road when I first saw her. For the first few days I fed her and spent some time with her and started to grow attached then after a few days of feeding her someone yelled out a window that I could take her cause they didn't want her anymore as she wasn't a kitten anymore (she was only about 4 months old)! So she came to live with me and my 3 other cats. She fitted in instantly and loves to be cuddled and get head rubs. After a little while I found out that one of my other cats I resuced from the same suburb is her half sister and I also rescued 2 of her other little sisters who were being neglected.

Fifi is really talkative - she walks into a room and announces her arrival. she leaves the room and announces her departure. if the food bowls are not to her likeing - she announces her disapproval.

I can honestly say that Fifi is a beautiful natured little cat and makes our 'cat family' complete

Mango

I'd like to introduce everyone to a little Jack Russell called Mango, named after the delicious fruit! I moved to NSW and wanted a little friend to keep me company. So I decided to get a little puppy, Mango was one of the only Jack Russell’s available at the time and within the first glances I saw of him, I knew I wanted to take him home.

He is a little dog packed with a big dog's ego, a bundle of beans that never stays still. Always wanting love and attention. He loves the sunshine, he often comes outside and sunbakes with me, I even put Zinc on his little nose (we are very sunsmart).

He loves tummy rubs and ear rubs and gets many many cuddles. Very smart, can do most commands we have taught him, he regularly attends doggy training school and play nights with all his friends, he wants me to say hello to a few now, Lucky, Wilber, Luu and Sam. He gets along a lot better with bigger dogs I don't understand why but he ignores all the little dogs!

He's trained to go to bed at 10:30pm each night. If I don't tuck him in he gets annoyed and storms off to bed by himself. I also made a poem about him below;

I bought a little Jack Russell
He's cute to boot,
And Tanked with muscle.
He's tan and white with spots
He's an angel,
Yeah right you should see all the mischief he plots.
His ego is amazing
A attention seeker he is,
But really all he wants is praising.
Out in the leaves he plays,
All day sometimes,
Hoping that my little darling never strays.
That's my dog Mango
He's my best friend,
The only thing he doesn't know is the Tango!

He is 6 months old now and growing up to be a loving and amazing dog, many great years to share together! Well that's the story of my pet puppy.

Luigi

My name is Luigi (male) and I have just turned 1 year old on the 19th February 2008.  For my birthday I got an 8 week old brother who is called Gianni and we love to run around the house when all the lights go out or no one is looking.

I am a Himalayan Red Point and my favourite hobbies are eating, playing with my brother and family, watching the TV show Animal Planet, lying in the kitchen sink and pretending to hunt for birds and lizards.

My family tell me all the time that they think I’m the bees-knees and I have to admit it I am pretty damn good looking.  Look at my pictures, the fur, the eyes, I have the whole package and use my good looks to get anything I like or maybe it is my adopted Italian heritage that makes me irresistible … you know the saying, Italian Stallion!

I live in a big house with my Mummy and Nanny that has water views, so I am a lucky lad.   When I have one of my many cat naps I get to gaze out at the view on the comfortable sofa that my family bought just for me.  Sleeping is my forte and I have to admit I don’t do much climbing and prefer that my Mummy is there to stand under trees etc to catch me.  Her reflexes are a bit slow and I tend to have to hang in mid air until she realises that I’m not playing or just hanging around looking handsome I need some help.

I have graduated from going on walks with a lead a couple of months ago which is great, so I know not to push my luck and go out of the backyard otherwise I get taken back in side and have to endure hours of sitting next to my Nanny watching Jerry Springer and Judge Judy, but then again I do get lots of cuddles, kisses, attention and treats so it’s a bit of a Catch 22.

I have a beautiful body of hair and I try to maintain that silky glow with lots of treats, not too much sun, beauty sleep and regular grooming sessions.  It is so important to ensure that I present well as I have a reputation to maintain and I think I am doing it well.  I have even started helping Gianni clean his coat as you can never start us lads too early.

I am very happy with my family including my brother, they enjoy giving me all the attention that I want including a little too much at times but what can I say I am irresistible and so that is something that I have to endure..  We all don’t like being apart so when Gianni is older we all are going away on a Pet Friendly holiday so that will be great fun, just the four of us … gee hope the car has enough room for all my baggage and grooming accessories?

Wally

I would like to enter “Pet of the Month” although this is my dog “Wally” and he is always my “pet of the month”.

Wally is a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, and is 10 years old, he is now deaf. In his younger days he did agility and obedience, getting up to “pre-lim” classes, before I stopped going.

He also went to nursing homes, and school visits.  He has always loved dressing up, and has won lots of competitions at Cavalier Fun days, doing just that.

Although I own 3 other Cavaliers, show and breed them. Wally is still my very “Special friend” and first ever Cavalier, and the reason I have gone on to love and be devoted to the breed.

Wally rules my home, and my life.

Garfield

I would love to introduce my beautiful boy, Garfield.

About 2 years ago, Garfield turned up at my house, and sat outside my bedroom window for 3 days and nights and meowed non-stop. Finally I gave into him and feed him and that was it, as far as he was concerned I was his mum!!! After going to the vets and the council, no one seemed to know where he came from and he didn’t  appear to have a home, so he became my best friend and house mate (except he doesn’t pay any rent!!!) haha

In April 2007, I came home from work to find him howling in pain, thinking he must have been poisoned, I rushed him to the vet’s. It was there that we discovered that he had a blockage in his bladder and he would need an operation. I was assured that it was a really common aliment amongst cats, and that his chances of survival were excellent. So in he went for his surgery and I then heard the news that it hadn’t worked.  My only option was to send him to a specialist about 3 hours away for reconstructive surgery to try and alleviate the pressure on his bladder. At this point he was in the early stages of renal failure and it wasn’t looking good for him at all. So after trying to determine the chances for successful surgery, versus the stress and trauma of his traveling in the car for 3 hours, I decided to take him to the specialists. I made a hasty trip in the car, taking my precious little boy with the IV drip in his little arm, shaved patches all over him. It was the worst trip of my life, not knowing if I would ever see him alive again. To cut a long story short, he was in the 24 hour “hospital” for two weeks, with several more surgeries attempted. Thankfully, after the two weeks and $5000 in medical costs, my little man was made of tough stuff and pulled through. After a few lifestyle changes (eg, diet) and me being constantly paranoid whenever he meows a little differently, it is coming up a year and his condition hasn’t returned. So that is why my little man is the most precious thing in the world to me. When I was going through all this, there were many people that were saying “don’t spend that kind of money on him, he is only a cat, just get him put down” which I think really shows what some people can be like. They would never say that about their children, so how are animals any different? They are just as vulnerable, and if Garfield had been someone else’s, sadly they may not have paid for his surgery and he wouldn’t be here today.

So now after all that, my Garsie, has the best life in the world, spoilt rotten and given lots of cuddles, after all that is what we are here for isn’t it? To spoil our babies rotten!!!

Thanks for listening to my very long story!! I just felt compelled to write in after seeing all the gorgeous previous pet of the month’s on your website!!! It is so nice to see people absolutely adoring their animals after all the cases of animal abuse that you hear about in the news.

Mischa

I never ever thought I'd get a cat because I always though of myself as a dog person. The stray cat at my Dad's work had some kittens, so he bought 2 home so Mum could look after them until he found permanent homes for them.

I was visiting them one day and had a look at the kittens. I fell in love with the female kitten as soon as I saw her. She was so tiny and had grey and white fur with a few dots of ginger. The tip of her tail and ears were ginger and she had a cute little ginger thumbprint on her forehead.

I decided then and there that I was going to take her home with me even though I had no idea what to do with a cat.

It took a few days for Mischa and myself to get used to each other and by the end of the first week, she was cuddling up to me on my bed at night. Mischa is a funny little thing, running and jumping all the time.

She can be a little to adventurous sometimes, like the other day when she jumped up on the bench to see what I was cooking - she walked across the hotplate and burnt her little paw. I rushed her straight to the vet.

I was so worried about her! I wouldn't imagine myself without a cat these days... very different to the "dog person" from a few months ago.

I have attached a photo of her asleep. It is my favourite photo of her.

Chester

Hello, This is a photo of myself and Chester, our 1 year old golden cocker spaniel boy.

He has made such a difference to our lives; he is happy, friendly and loves everyone and everything!  The term 'merry cocker' could have been made just for him. We go to the beach every morning where we see our friends, both human and canine, and Chester loves to swim, no matter what the weather. I cannot imagine life without him now.

His favourite game is chase around the garden with a rubber toy. He loves treats, toys and playtimes.

We have just passed intermediate obedience and recieved a medal and certificate. Hopefully, we shall have a little playmate for him in the near future!

This was taken shortly before Chesters' first birthday when we celebrated with photos and a day of treats for all of us, including goodies for him form Mollycoddled pets!

Mimi

Mimi the dog is a little traveller, she finally arrived back home last month and is thrilled to be reunited with her cat family! She hops and jumps like a bunny and her favourite things are playing at the beach in the sand and romping in the grass at home. Most of all she likes snoozing with her favourite little sister Kimmy the cat.

This is what Mimi says: Mummy adopted me when I was only four weeks old – I was born on a country farm where the doggies were not very well looked after and there was not enough milk for me and my bigger brothers and sisters. The man there chopped off my tail when I was only 10 days old. That hurt, I can tell you! I used to get quite upset when I was touched there, it always felt so sore, but then Mummy gave me lots of massages and love and it stopped hurting. I was so full of fleas that I was bleeding all over my neck and back but Dr. Vet helped us get rid of them real quick.

So now I'm 2 years old, have nice silky fur and a cosy warm fleece bed and lots of cat and dog friends at home to play with. My favourite things on holiday were the Sydney Opera House, going on the ferries and the yummy roo bars. I also loved the bed and breakfast we stayed at (they gave me lots of lamb roast and had a great big garden to explore!) and shopping at all the pet boutiques coz everyone was soooo nice to me and kept giving me treats. I also got to pick a couple of new toys, so it was just like Christmas! Wuf!!!

Diesel

This is my 8 month old Birman cat, Diesel.  In all my life, I have never owned anything so beautiful.  Not just physically but also, in what he gives me in terms of comfort and companionship on a daily basis.

I live on my own and it is beyond words what love and joy he has brought into my home.  When I come home at the end of a hard day, he literally stands at the door to welcome me and absolutely loves cuddles on the couch.  When I’m walking around in the house, he follows me everywhere and loves to have a ‘chat’ in his own little language.   When he’s naughty and gets told not to do something, he stops and then brushes his head against my leg as though to say, “I’m sorry”.

I had gone to Diesel’s breeder to find a much younger kitten from a new litter she had but upon arriving, I saw Diesel who was older than the other kittens.  When I asked the breeder about his story, she said that all his other brothers and sisters got adopted out but for some reason, people would just overlook him.  Straight away, I felt a connection with him and decided to adopt him.  Plus, those deep blue eyes were enough to break any heart!

Sasha Jane

This is Sasha Jane, she is a 5 months old Maltalier.

I know everyone says she is the most spoilt puppy ever, and I give in too easy - but look at that baby face, how could I not!

Sasha came to be from me wanting a puppy for years and years and finally came the right time with life settling down and a huge house and yard to boot. With months of research came fluffypuppies where Geoff had a litter due in May07 - PERFECT. To cut short a very very hard waiting period I finally picked up Sasha Jane on April 2nd all the way from Bathurst (where it was 4 degrees).

I cant imagine my life without her now, she has bought my partner and me us endless laughs, licks, and cuddles.

Sasha and I have a snooze on the lounge together underneath the blanket, with her little nose tucked into my neck. It’s the best feeling in the world.

Thanks to your website, her coat smells like pina colada, her breath is minty fresh, and my partner says she has more toys than he ever did!

She excelled in Puppy Preschool, loves walks, doesn’t mind her showers, cant pass up a bit of fetch, and nothing beats chewing on dads slippers…haha

Dogs are such an important stage of life and I am just so blessed and happy to have our baby girl!

From Sasha

Britney

This is Britney and she is a beautiful 3 year old Maltese and an absolute Princess. Britney was a very hard girl to find but after a few long months of searching we finally found her.

All our Friends and family know Britney as our daughter.. NOT A DOG!, she literally does everything and comes everywhere with us. Each morning Britney is dropped off at Doggie Day Care which is at my parents house so she is able to play with my parents two dogs Bonnie & Occy.

She loves going for walks everyday and enjoys car trips.

Britney has a very luxurious life and has full run of our house. She sleeps at the end of our bed with her and all her toys and you can often find her on the couch trying to hide a toy of some sort.

She is beautiful and affectionate and we love her to death. We know she loves us just as much!

Captain and his friend Clancy

This is Captain, our seven-year-old Golden Retriever. He's our everything, an extension of our family and keeper of our hearts.

Captain's mother had trouble giving birth to her litter and because I had the unique opportunity to be there, I assisted in the birth of many of the pups, including Captain. (I actually had to reach in and pull some of the pups out and break the membrane from around them)

Captain has so much love to give that we just had to find him a friend and because he's so terrific with the little guys we eventually decided to get him a 'little buddy'.

Meet Clancy, Captain's new best friend and our Bichon Frise X Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. He's 10-weeks-old, cute as a button, intelligent and super naughty! BUT we all love him to pieces.

Clancy's favourite place is nestled deep in my arms on the couch and snuggling in bed on a cold morning but he adores his romps in the back yard with Captain who has worked out that Clancy can be worn out a whole lot quicker than he can.

Annie

Annie came into our lives about 3 months ago when we visited her at the RSPCA adoption shelter.  Her beautiful big eyes and gentle nature melted our hearts straight away and we couldn’t resist – we just had to adopt her.

We’re not sure of her background, but she was a quite timid at first – she always had her tail between her legs and she was a bit nervous of new people.  It has been so rewarding to see her develop into a relaxed, happy dog.  Everyday she progresses a little bit more.  Now she welcomes visitors at the front door with a wagging tail (and, if she gets the chance, a big lick), she runs around the park with a big group of her doggy friends.  Best of all though, my husband and I have found the most beautiful and affectionate dog in the world.  Every night she snuggles up with us in front of the TV.  If one of us has the chance to sleep-in in the morning, she’ll jump in to keep us company.  She is a true companion and we gain so much pleasure from having her.  We are absolutely smitten - we love her to pieces!

There is one more aspect that makes Annie even more special.  After having her for about a month, we found out that she has kidney disease and may not live for very long.  This was such a shock to us – she showed no direct signs of being so ill.  However, we put her on a special diet and after just one month her blood results improved considerably.  Hopefully this means that we will get more time with her!  We want to give Annie the best life possible – that is why I can’t get off the mollycoddled website – I can’t resist but to spoil her at every chance!

The RSPCA estimated that Annie’s birthday was the 1st of June – perfect for June’s Dog of the Month!

I think that the RSPCA deserve a special mention – they have been so fantastic with Annie, giving her the best care possible.  All of the staff have been outstanding.  They are so caring and friendly.  We are so grateful for their commitment to helping us give Annie a happy and healthy life.

Layla

This is my 3 month old Beagle, her name is Layla and we love her to death.

Even when she is biting your feet, chewing your shoes, running off with your socks, and digging holes in the garden, you cant help but love the innocent look on her face, and the way she still loves to be cuddled when she's sleeping on your lap.

Layla spends her time playing in the back yard, or annoying us when we are trying to watch TV, or do anything for that matter. She hasn't learnt to sleep alone yet, and as such starts the night at the foot of our bed, and by the time we wake up in the morning she is usually sharing our pillows with us!

People ask what we did with our time before we got her... and I cant even remember... its hard not to imagine having her in our lives.

Kaiser

Kaiser is just coming up to his first birthday (5th April) and he is a miniature schnauzer. I came over to Australia with my husband a year and a half ago and when Kaiser arrived last June made up a perfect little family of three.

He is full of fun and adventure - keeping me well on my toes! He loves to dig in my garden..... run, roll and swim at the beach and play hide and seek with my socks, thongs and thankfully his favourite toys too :). He has so much love to give, a quirky little chap and such a funny character. Kaiser makes me laugh (a real comedian!) and ensures I never feel lonely.

Members of my family back home recently visited and Kaiser was the perfect host, was very welcoming (relished the attention of course...) and just loved my little niece. Kaiser now is coming out of his puppy time and I have watched him over this last year grow and mature. He has been a keen and fast learner who has always been willing to please.

Kaiser is one in a million and my best mate!

River

River is my 14 month old party animal and I love the little guy to bits!!

He is such a funny, cheeky little boy - always ready to entertain everyone with his love of life.  He loves playing with his ball when we go to the park and beach so we've started flyball - we've had 2 lessons so far and he's really good at turning on the box and is getting used to jumping the hurdles - he seems to be picking it up so quickly.

River lives a pretty luxurious life - he waits for us at home on the lounge in front of the TV and at night sleeps at the foot of our bed - he just loves being part of our family.

He certainly has made our family complete and it's hard to remember what we spent all our time doing prior to having River in our lives.

Chi Chi

Hello my name is Chi Chi, I am 7 months old I flew in from Armidale to Sydney where my parents Pat & Guy picked me up at Sydney Airport. I was a little nervous at first but now I just love Sydney, I love life & mostly I love the home I live in.

I learn new tricks every day, I can sit like a bunny; shake hands, roll over and much more, I am thinking of attending Agility Classes where I can show of my skills. I have just discovered how to dig large holes in the yard; don’t think my dad likes them because he then covers them up with a pot plant. Oh and I love the car rides every Wednesday night we drive to my grandparents house where I eat yummy pasta, it taste so good.

But most of all I love playing with the ball. In fact we go to the park twice a day to play with the ball, only the other day I started playing with someone else ball & everyone was just looking at me like I did something wrong, I just love balls, I just can’t have enough to play with. My parents sometimes call me Boss Hog because I pretty much hog everything, especially the bed (I can’t help it I like sleeping with my legs up in the air) and yes I like to act like the boss, I pretty much rule the Villa complex I live in.

Brandi

Brandi is our beloved 12 year old Golden Retriever. She is apart of the family and actually comes to work with me everyday. She wonders around the office getting pats and biscuits from everyone all day! I recently got married and my new husband has adopted Brandi as his own (well she was around a lot longer then him, so I should say she has adopted him as her own).

Brandi attended our wedding and had a matching collar to the bridesmaid dresses. She was there for photos and had a great time running around Rippon Lea Estate in Melbourne. One day after we returned from our Honeymoon in America Brandi got very ill. They told us she had lung cancer and gave her one month to live. The whole family was absolutely devastated; she was 11 years old and had lived a good life but spending everyday with her made it very difficult for me to imagine life without her.

We started to make arrangements and all the really sad things and after two weeks Brandi started to get better! We could not believe that she was walking around ok, breathing ok and was starting to look like her old self again. With many check ups that followed and middle of the night Vet hospital visits we were told she was misdiagnosed. To this day we still don’t know what she had and the doctors are also baffled. They called her a ‘text book case’. She has since had one operation and is back to her normal self. Apart from the hip displacer that she has she is a 12 year old ‘puppy’ with so much love to give. She still comes to work everyday and is nearly eligible for long service leave. She loves being part of the family and is truly my best friend.

Thanks for reading Brandi’s story

Pippa Louise Hilary

Can I please introduce Pippa Louise Hilary - Pippa because we like the name Louise after her person sister Abbey Louise and Hilary cause we quickly learnt that she likes to climb.

Pippa came into our lives in early May after we lost our Maltese Silky Cross of 14 years Misty a week prior.  Misty was a beautiful dog and we loved her so very much but the brain tumour she had forced us to make a serious decision about her quality of life.  This came at a particularly stressful time for our family as I had only just been released from hospital after a month-long stay fighting a serious infection that had reached my brain after, would you believe it, having two teeth out!

Despite looking like an angel Pippa is personality plus - you have two choices every day either take me for a long walk or play ball with me for hours!  She is not too keen on sleep in Saturday and Sunday as that wastes 'playtime' and she is quickly learning that she is not the boss of every single dog she sees - big or small.  She has brought tremendous joy into our lives.  Will never replace our beloved Misty but has very quickly stolen our hearts.

Cheers

Hershey

People often ask me how Hershey got his name.  Most (but not all) people know that Hershey is a brand of chocolate in the U.S.  I originally set out to purchase a chocolate-coloured Spoodle and someone suggested I choose a 'chocolate' name and I came up with Hershey (which beats Cadbury or Nestle!).  However, I came across a cream-coloured Toy Spoodle puppy on the breeder's website and he had the saddest eyes.  I asked a friend what to do and she suggested I choose the puppy that 'spoke to my heart'.  I did just that and the sad-eyed puppy came to live with me and received my chosen name, "Hershey", even though he was not chocolate coloured.  He's white chocolate!

Hershey's very cheeky.  At night, before we go to bed, I always send him outside to go to the toilet - "Outside, Hershey.  Wee wee!".  I've discovered that if he doesn't need to go, he'll still indulge me by running out through his doggy door but then he'll wait there for a few seconds watching me and then run back inside, not having gone to the toilet, but tricking me into thinking that he has been!

Lucy

Lucy first came to us when she was 16 weeks old. She was severely abused. She was frightened of many things like people, other animals, concrete and even her food bowls. It took a long 8 months for her to come out of her shell. She now loves all people as long as they are nice to her, she puts up with concrete and still hates shiny bowls but that's ok because she has a ceramic one that doesn't show her reflection in.

We have a very close bond between the two of us. We have only been seperated for one day since I got her(desexing). She is being treated for Arthritis which she developed when she was just 2 years old. She is now 4 years old. She has chronic skin and food allergies to many things. She likes to spend her days in the sun or inside on her bed.

Thanks for reading Lucy's story.

From Lucy and her human buddy Nicole.

Munchkin

This is Munchkin, my 3-month old Lop-Eared Rabbit. She is white and has red eyes. Her favourite foods are Apples and Almonds.

Munchkin is very cheeky. She tries to get into anything she can.

We called her Munchkin because she 'munches' everything. She will nibble at anything that is in front of her! Munchkin likes to tear newspapers and old telephone books. She is very very cute...

Dulce and Dior

I’d like to introduce you to Dulce and Dior, two very special new additions to our family. Dulce is a beautiful Chih - Poo (Chihuahua x Toy Poodle) and Dior is a very fluffy Moodle (Maltese x Toy Poodle). At 8 weeks they’re puppy personalities come out as they play in the garden and frolic among the flowers. Dior is a little guts and eats and eats and therefore is bigger than her sister Dulce and sometimes kicks her out of bed. They both love to sleep and enjoy each others company very much!

Dulce has a little black tail with a white tip and Dior sometimes mistakes it for a toy and chases Dulce’s tail down and pounces on it, startling Dulce, but all is forgotten and they trot off to their next adventure in the backyard.

Rory

Hello,

My name is Rory & I’m a female Labrador X Lhasa Apso.  Yes, I know I’m a strange crossbreed but I’m an energetic little puppy & my mummy loves me to bits.  I’m actually my mum’s first dog as her parents wouldn’t let her have pets as a kid. Anyways, I love to play ball & tug of war.  In the coming months I’m going to start obedience training & work my way up to competing in agility & flyball (I have endless energy…. Mum thinks I’m a little psycho!).  Anyways, things to do, places to go & people to lick

Luv Rory

P.S. my mummy let helped me write this email and sent it for me

Will and Grace

Please meet Will and Grace, 16 month old Papillon x Maltese (unofficially there may be some Chihuahua in there too as they are tiny, 3kg and 2.5kg)

This cheeky brother and sister duo could not be more different. Grace is a bit of an "IT" Girl and loves to show everybody how pretty is she by parading around with her toe nails painted pink. Her favourite toy is anything noisy and she loves running around on the beach. Will on the other hand is more of a "pipe and slippers" man, he is happiest sat on my lap watching TV with a bone close by. He will guard the garden and let us know everytime he sees a lizard, he also sticks up for his little sister if any bigger dogs get a bit rough with her.

At the end of the day, even though they are so different they both love each other very much and can not bare to be separated. This means we end up with TWO dogs under our duvet each night !!

Maxxy

My name is Maxxy.  I am a 4 1/2 year old Kelpie X who was rescued from the RSPCA at the age of 1.  I love playing ball and chasing the sprinkler, but most of all I love hanging out with my family, including my best mate Soda Pop the cat.  I am the friendliest dog you will ever meet!

I was attacked by two dogs whist going for a walk the other day, so I really deserve Mollycoddled Pet of the Month this month!

Annabel

Annabel is your average cat.  That is, she rules the roost and has a knack of getting into places she shouldn't be.

She's a 1 year old Scottish Short hair, a mix between a Scottish Fold and a British Short hair.  Her colouring is very pretty and, boy, does she know it!

Being an indoor cat, her favourite spot is sitting by the front wire door, making sure everything is as it should be in the world.

In this picture, she is at her most elegant.

Bodi

Bodi is a Show Dog who's show name is "Andacht Fort Worth". We got Bodi at 12 Weeks of age, and started showing him at 16 weeks old. He has already been interstate on 2 occasions. 1st Queensland, the Show was called "The National's 2005" where German Shepherds from all over Australia and New Zealand compete.

Bodi came 8th, much to our delight. 2nd Interstate Show was in Melbourne, called "The Main Breed Exhibition" with dogs from Australia Wide again, Bodi coming 9th in that Show. We were told that he is “a bit overweight, don't kill him with kindness"! But, how do you stop all the little treats, without feeling guilty???

He is off to Melbourne on the 10th March 2006, for "The Nationals 2006", so we hope he looks a little bit thinner (one wonders with all the Birthday Food just consumed)

He is a beautiful boy that we love dearly.  Bodi, goes everywhere with us, including to Restaurants, as we always find the Restaurants with outdoor seating. He behaves very well, as we always take a Pigs Ear or a Bone with us so he feels that he is having dinner out too! He has a superb nature, loving people and other animals, so much so, that where ever we go, he goes up to people expecting to be patted - not realizing that some strange people just don't like animals!!!

His Dad decided that every month on the 20th that was his Birthday Day, so each month on that day, Bodi received a Birthday Toy. For Christmas, his Dad bought him his own Outdoor Shower, as he loves water so much. He first saw these, when he was at the Beach, where the people were washing off the sand - he then decided he wanted a turn too!! Bodi swims both Saturdays and Sundays every weekend. I purchased some more toys for him for Christmas, and also a great large "Bone Shaped Toy Box" to contain all his toys - which were all sent from USA. As you can imagine, there was Christmas paper and toys scattered all over the house Christmas Morning. What fun we all had watching him open everything. Dad even Videoed Bodi, so we can later relive the fun.

On Bodi’s first Birthday he received a cake made especially for him from Mollycoddled Pets. All made from Chicken, Vanilla and Banana in little bone shapes with the Birthday Boys name on it!

Must say, so spoil is he, that a friend of ours who also owns a Show Dog, said "When I die, I want to come back as your dog"!!!!!

Bodi lives inside with us, and has walks every morning and night to break the boredom of just his own backyard.  As we don't have any children, Bodi completes our family totally. We are so lucky to have this wonderful boy!!!!

Archie

Archie is an eleven months old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel from NSW.

Not being biased at all we thought he should be considered for “Pet of the Decade” but after all ~ it’s best to assume modesty.

As a couple of “empty nesters” Archie has become a child substitute along with two much loved cats. Our grown up children have just had to accept that the three grandsons have moved further down the order for attention. What can they expect when Archie lives here and they are miles away!

This little bloke is a graduate of Puppy Pre-School, Beginners Level Obedience and Level One Obedience. He loves going to “school” and we plan to start level two any day now. He manages to combine what he has learned with just the right amount of being spoilt, to the degree that his preferred comfort place is on the lounge (on a protective quilt of course.) I am told by other Cav owners that we may as well accept that from the start.

Archie’s best friend is the younger of our two cats, Phoebe, a half Persian “sunset tortabby”. This is a combination between tortoiseshell and tabby with some amazing tones of gold and orange in her coat. These two animals romp, wrestle and groom each other constantly.

Archie’s latest hobby is Kayaking, thanks to his lovely new buoyancy vest from Mollycoddled Pets*. He loves water and swimming.

This breed makes a wonderful family pet ~ fun, affectionate and great with visitors, including children. Thanks to Archie we’ve made all sorts of new friends on walks and on holidays. He is just perfect in the car, so we take him everywhere, including a recent visit to some old folk in a Sydney nursing home where he was quite a hit. He travelled well over two thousand kilometers between Christmas and mid January and is becoming a connoisseur of pavement coffee shops and country town parks.

*Note from Mollycoddled Pets. You won’t find these vests normally on our website, but Archie’s parents asked us if we would help and find a vest for him. We’re always happy to try and find special items for you and your pet!

Ness

Hello my name is Ness and I am a 5 year old black and white Border Collie.

I am one totally spoilt dog. Recently I had a huge package arrive in time for Christmas and the Australia Post Courier person couldn't believe that I was really a dog when they asked mum whether Ness could come and sign for the package. Actually I had 3 packages arrive within 2 weeks all addressed to me and the courier guy had a good chuckle as he couldn't believe any doggies would receive that many parcels.

The photo I have included is of me consuming a huge turkey neck on Christmas Day - it was totally yummy. Pity that I had to stay clean for 3 days with no swimming prior to Christmas after I had a bath so I smelt nice for the relatives now that was tough but I guess the turkey neck made it worth my while.

My favourite thing to do is fetch toys in the creek so that was what I spent my Boxing Day doing - getting all dirty again. Other than that I love being one totally indulged puppy.

Ness and her faithful toy thrower Sally.

We decided that because Christmas is coming up and we felt like it, we might have two winners this month!

Charlie

Hello my name is Charlie and I am now 8 months old.

My Mum travelled all the way to Sydney to get me because she has always wanted a Cavalier King Charles. But Im really glad she did, because now I have a nice warm bed and lots of toys.

I also get lots of nice tasty treats and Mum always takes me for walks.

I love being spoilt and my favourite thing is snuggling with Mum on the lounge.

Mia

My name is "Mia" and I have just turned 1 year old.

My Mummy's friend found me when I was tiny in his letterbox one afternoon when he came home from work.  I was asleep on the letters and got such a fright when his stuck his face in to see what I was.

He went to work the next day and told my Mummy that he had found me and asked if she would like to have me.  She didn't want a kitten as she was still heartbroken after loosing her cat 2 years ago when it was hit by a car.

I stayed with her friend for 3 days, but he didn't let me inside or cuddle me much, then.......Mum came!

I was a bit naughty at first and I kind of smelt a little, not to mention the fleas!  Man, they drove me crazy!!!!  But she picked me up and kissed me on the head and cuddled me into her chest, she didn't even worry that I smelt or that I was so dirty.  I started purring and sucking on her necklace...... and that's when I knew everything would be alright.

She took me home and gave me a bath!  (I can't really blame her for that)....when she went to sleep, I was allowed to sleep on the bed too.  All I wanted to do was cuddle and smooch her all night long, I couldn't sleep for weeks - I was so happy!

Mummy started getting a little cranky with me because I kept her awake every night trying to cuddle her, but I have settled down now and even have my own lamb skin rug on the end of her bed (although I still go and give her a cuddle every morning at about 4am just to say thankyou and I think she likes that because she is always so happy to see me, even at that hour!).

She tells me every day that I am so cute and that she loves me, I love her so much too and I even think that she is cute!  I am so happy and everything that I went through as a little kitten doesn't even affect me anymore......I just have to remember to stay away from cars so my Mummy's heart doesn't get broken again.

Ampy

Hi,

My name is Ampy. I'm a 2 1/2 year-old Jack Russell Terrier X (commonly known as Jack Russell Terrorists), and up until February this year I had been living in foster homes run by Monika's Doggie Rescue. My daddies were out shopping for a dog one Saturday, and not finding one they could love at the RSPCA, they came to Monica's outlet at Alexandria, and found me waiting for them. They said they fell in love with me because while all the other dogs were barking and playing up, I just sat there quietly and patiently. They took me for a walk, then took me home straight away. I was very naughty for the first two days, as I tried to escape twice, but I'm now really glad that the escapes failed.

They love me very much, and spoil me like you would not believe, with lots of long walks, and time every weekend at the off-leash dog park, where I can sniff other dogs and cock my leg to my hearts delight while they have a coffee. They take me almost everywhere with them, and have even allowed me to do things at home they said they would never allow a dog to do, like me being able to go anywhere in the house - EXCEPT THEIR BED, but I'm working on that - and they even set up a bed for me on the lounge, which I was never supposed to get up on. I love cuddling up with my daddies when they make a cup of tea at night and then settle in to watch the tele. I get lots of cuddles, lots of belly rubs and lots of treats - maybe too many treats, as they have had the vet tell them to put me on a diet. I hate the vet anyway, because she clips nails and give me yucky heartworm injections.

Despite them thinking they are the lucky ones, and they can't imagine life without me, I reckon I've done pretty well myself. They didn't even change my funny name.

Mollycoddled Pets - Pet of the Month

Chevy

After fostering me five months ago from a rescue group SAFE, mum and dad (mainly dad!!) decided they couldnt bear to give me up so have adopted me for keeps - YAY!

I am totally loving being spoiled rotten and try to be a good girl whenever I can so I get more treats.  I am now going to "kindy classes" and can sit, heel and stay.  Dad thinks I am a total genius but I think Mum knows I am more interested in the food and that clicky thing than anything she has to say!!!!

Well I better go and look like a good girl so I can get some more pats (don't tell dad about the new hole in the lawn though will you), maybe they will take me to the beach again.

Miss Molly

My name is Miss Molly

I am one of a family of eight Brothers & Sisters and I am 12 weeks old. My human Mum & Dad have been spoiling me with a new bed and lots of toys. This is me at the Beach for the first time and since then I have been in a boat and went camping on an Island out from Brisbane. I am going to puppy school soon to meet some new friends.

I am so happy that I have brought some happiness to my new Mum & Dad as they have had some sad times recently and it's so good to see them laugh at some of the things that I get up to.

I will soon be meeting my Grand Woofers as they are coming up to see me and I hope they bring me some pressies.

Bundy and Asti

Here is a photo of my babies, Bundy Boy who is 5 years old and Asti Sweetie, who'll be 3 next month in their new YAP jumpers and they LOVE them can't wait to get them on every night. Bundy came into my life as a birthday present from my husband and Asti came along a couple of years later, when I was getting Bundy groomed. Both of my darlings are very intelligent and know exactly when its time for dinner, or walks even if we go for a drive in the car! Hope you enjoy these pictures as I love my dogs to bits.

Casper

My name is Casper the Friendly Golden Retriever.

This was me about 6 weeks ago (aged 8 weeks), enjoying my dinner with a nice glass of wine at my new home with my new Mum and Dad.

I love my new home - there's so many great toys to play with (especially Mum, I play with her a lot) and lots and lots of ground for me to dig really big holes in when I'm not playing with Mum.  Mum and Dad reckon I'm the best doggy in the world and, other than the potholes in the backyard I've dug for them, I can do no wrong!  (Just don't mention munching on electrical cords, carpet threads, window screens, treated pine, the cedar shingles on the house,  Mum's new cane outdoor chairs, Mum's work files .... all of which makes Mum to get really really really frantic at me!)

Mum says I look really good in my matching black and red daisy collar and lead, but Dad reckons I look like one of my sisters back at my old home, so he's made Mum promise to buy a plain black collar & lead... but Mum can't resist Swarovski Crystals and tells me I'm getting a really groovy collar and lead soon ... I can't wait!

Love
Casper

Kelly

My beautiful girl Kelly is 13 years old.  She is a cross between an Irish Wolfhound and Kelpie.

Kelly is a very happy girl, that smile of hers is nearly always on her face.  She's a playful old girl and so bossy. When she wants something, she barks to let us know and keeps it up till she gets what it is she wants.

My partner and I are spoiling her so much more these days as my baby girl was diagnosed with oral cancer in September last year.  Every day is a blessing, and every day she brings sheer joy to my heart and soul. She is our best friend, so loyal and loving.

Thanks for reading this and I hope you enjoy my Kelly's picture as much as I do.

Chianna

My Blue Burmese kitten (6 months old) is named Chianna. She is either a holy terror or a bundle of purrs and love.

She is very curious and thinks of all sorts of things to do that get her in trouble.

This picture shows what happens when you turn your back on a pot.

Lots of personality is a Burmese trademark and we were warned she was naughty but I didn't think I'd have to worry about her trying to eat EVERYTHING including brooms, my fingers...

Pet of the Month at Mollycoddled Pets

Emmy Lou

I would like to enter my beautiful little Australian Silky Terrier, Emily in the Pet Of The Month Competition.

I have only had her for less than two weeks but she is the centre of my universe. She makes me laugh everyday and I just love to spoil her. She has a distinct personality of her own, and walks around the house with an air of confidence that she is just so adorable. She knows those 'baby browns' will melt your heart even if she is chewing your favourite pair of shoes when she has dozens of toys for that very purpose - Bless her!
